Hi, the monitor on my laptop has been flickering like crazy the past few days and I've been reading non-stop on the forums here. I have tried pretty much everything except physically opening the laptop as it still has its warranty I have a few questions.
Is the warranty void if I open it and attempt to reconnect the monitor cables like the one behind the monitor and the one on the bottom ? I saw that someone had the same problem and they had to literally duck tape one of those cables as it would come loose (the one on the bottom) and I have yet to open mine to check.
Is there anything else I can do apart from rolling back my drivers (I've already done this over 5 times, I even tried uninstalling them to no avail) ?
The weird thing is that the screen flickers randomly but mostly on chrome and browsers in general, also the night light and f.lux cause the flicker to be more prevalent and if I decide to use the slider to try to dim the screen using either it will cause the flicker to start up again. This is utterly debilitating and as I am a software engineer it is getting very aggravating.
Extra details that might help - it has never done this while gaming and I have noticed that in game I cannot cause it to flicker, this led to me believe it is the intel graphics drivers because this came after a windows update and an driver update I did, but I uninstalled it and even rolled it back and the problem kept on coming back. Also some days it will go without flickering and others I will not be able to do any work on it because of this problem.
The laptop is an Acer Aspire VX5-591G running Windows 10. The Intel HD graphic 630 are the ones my PC runs on.  Any help would be welcomed.
P.S. I have not tried reinstalling my windows as exams are around the corner and I need the laptop for them and I would like to leave this as a last resort.

Congrats. I won't tell anybody you opened it. Re-seating the connectors a few times often cleans the contacts of corrosion or dirt especially when the weather starts to get a bit warmer and more humid. Hope it works out for you. And don't open and close the lid too much.  :)   Jack E/NJ

Then I suggest that you do nothing right now. If an HDMIed TV screen doesn't flicker, then it's probably just that the video ribbon cable needs to be reseated a few times to clean contacts or replaced from opening and closing the lid too much. Relatively inexpensive part (usually less than $20 but a chore to reseat or replace). Jack E/NJ

Thanks. Do you have any idea if opening my screen will void the warranty on the laptop ?

Don't do it. First HDMI out to a TV screen to see if it flickers or not. We'll go from there. Jack E/NJ

Sorry for not heeding your advice but I don't have readily available access to an hdmi screen so I opened the laptop and traced the screen cable to the motherboard and disconnected the cable and then reconnected it. Lo and behold it worked and at the moment I tested with the night light and a few excel data sheets with highly contrasting colors and it works. Aparantly the cabel had dislodged itself, which was evident from the fact that the screws on the bottom were barely tightened which seemed odd as I believe I have been gentle with the machine. Thanks for the help also :) much appreciated, have a nice day

Thanks, exactly my thought process, I've lived my whole life in high humidity places next to the sea so I had a suspicion it could affect the pc but not this much. Also I wasn't that worried as I have around 6 months left on my warranty anyways so I wouldn't have lost too much :)

Also, is there a way or need to close the thread or show that it is solved? I'm new to the forum
