How can I install a second SSD in my Predator Helios 500 (Ryzen model)?

The factory mounted SSD is in slot #2. When mounting my second SSD in the free M.2 slot #1 the machine doesn't boot.

Luckily it does boot if I remove it again.

I should add that all 3 SATA ports (2SSD and old-fashioned, I presume) are all enabled in the BIOS. However, I am confused as the M.2 socket form factor is with one notch - which I thought was NVMe?

The m.2 drives work on nvme ports but the nvme aren't compatible with m.2 ports the ryzen variant only has one m.2 and one nvme and the factory ssd that comes with it its sata only not nvme (not sure if its the same on models) only the intel variant has 2 nvme slots this was already tested and explained here in one thread slot 1 its sata slot 2 supports nvme

Thank you so much! I read the online info, compared with the spec readout in Windows saying the boot drive is PCIe and concluded I should buy a SATA SSD for the free slot.

I read your reply a couple of hours before I would have otherwise returned it, having never tried it once I saw the form factor was with one notch.

I will now return the PCIe replacement I bought in stead! How to confuse people..
