So I was playing fifa 19 this afternoon when I noticed my laptop screen blink. It first happened and I just overlooked it. I actually thought it was the game glitching  But then it kept reoccurring. It continued to the point it just became frustrating and I could barely play the game no more. So I alt+f4 the game which brought me back to desktop and then everything now seemed to be stable display was still functioning with no blinks and all I was also able to work on an fl studio project for 20mins or so. The computer performed as expected but the display wasn't just perfect. It wasn't shaking as bad as it was while I was gaming but felt like I was looking at a lesser screen quality. I still didn't think anything serious had happened so I was like perhaps a restart would bring everything to normal. I needed to shower so I just shut it down instead. I still didn't think anything had happened to the laptop so I go ahead with the rest of the my day.
I came back at least 5hrs later to use the laptop. I turned it on laptop comes on as usual with display but it was just so terrible. The closest thing I can use to describe it is watching satellite TV( or dishTV) during rain pour. Now the computer functions but just without display. I can maneuver my way and play music and even a movie. But the display is just a black screen with light. I managed to get a video right before it stopped displaying. Any ideas on what could be possibly wrong?

Everything works fine on an external display. That is via HDMI connection. The computer performs as expected everything is still very functional as far as usual day to day operation of the laptop are concerned

Graphics seem fine. So if you have a habit of opening and closing the lid a lot --- like everytime you step away from the machine for a moment or two --- the prime suspect is the video ribbon cable. It tortuously snakes thru the hinge area and thus vulnerable to intermittent conductor trace breaks. Less than $20 with free shipping at WalMart online. Jack E/NJ

Ok I'll see as I get one and let you know how  it responds to it. In the mean time, I'm stuck with external display
