Fitting the ES1-523 Backlit keyboard to a non-backlit ES1-523

Hello Acer crew,

I found this handy dandy backlit keyboard on AliExpress:

Does anyone have any experience fitting a backlit keyboard to a non-backlit model?
Would my motherboard have a ribbon cable connector for the backlight ribbon?
I suppose one could solder it to one of the USB power lines since 5v will light LEDs...

I really want to install a backlit keyboard on my laptop, because frankly for the computing I do with it, any CPU upgrades would be wasted on me. I'm hardly taxing the A10 as it is.

Good afternoon TrooperKhan !

If your model does not have backlit keyboard then activation is not possible.
This type of procedure you want will remove your warranty beyond presenting a risk to the system since both battery and charger will have to work with an unlisted charge.

I've seen it done on YouTube, but that someone used the 3.3v from Bluetooth and he just turns on and off Bluetooth to turn on or off the backlight. Gonna check my mobo for that all important ribbon connector. Seem to recall seeing a small ribbon connector that wasn't connected to anything last time I was in there

As I informed you this procedure, besides causing a risk to the invalid device the guarantee of the same.

And it also understands that this modification can damage the system and even cause short and total burn of the apparatus, right?

It could if it's improperly integrated, but supposing I were to use a commercial USB electroluminescent cable and just hooked it up to the USB 2 port, I can't imagine this would cause a problem, it would be akin to plugging in a usb light
