Have you tried turning BT off and on again? Have you tried completely turning the Chromebook off and on again? Jack E/NJ

Try a hardware reset as follows. Shut machine completely off. Then press & hold refresh key while tapping the power button. Sign in after the machine starts. Jack E/NJ

A powerwash factory reset is about the best way to rule in or rule out a BT hardware failure. Backup any personal files you have on a USB stick. Then follow these instructions
    1. Sign out of your Chromebook.
    2. Press and hold Ctrl + Alt + Shift + R.
    3. Select Restart.
    4. In the box that appears, select Powerwash and then Continue.
    5. Follow the steps that appear and sign in with your Google Account.
Note: The account you sign in with after you reset your Chromebook will be the owner account.
    6. Follow the onscreen instructions to set up your Chromebook

If a factory reset doesn't resolve the issue, then it's likely the BT adapter has failed.
