Upgraded SSD - Why Is It Slower?

Hi,
A couple of days ago I cloned the pre-installed 128GB SSD onto a new, higher specification 500GB SSD. After cloning, I installed the new SSD and noticed it has markedly inferior 4K file speeds. The SSD is the boot drive plus programs/apps/games, while other data is stored on a regular spinning hard drive HDD. The only other detail is that Windows installed a security update shortly before cloning took place, but it's hard to imagine that would have any significant effect on SSD speeds. So, why is the new, bigger/better/faster SSD running slower on 4K file performance??
The system:
ACER Aspire E15  Model E5-575G
Windows 10 Home 64-bit
Factory installed SSD - Lite-on CV1-8B128 (M.2 SATA III)
Newly-cloned and installed SSD - WD 3D Blue 500GB (M.2 SATA III)
Factory installed HDD - Seagate ST-1000LM024 1TB
8GB RAM

    Finding a needle in a big haystack takes longer than in a little haystack. Should take about 4x longer. So the WD seems to be doing pretty well in finding it.  Jack E/NJ

    SSDs do Read or Write tasks in parallel across all of the flash memory chips on the drive. The 500GB model has more flash memory chips, thus it can search for (Read) or save (Write) more locations all at once. It should not be slower than a 128GB SSD. 
    Another thought that occurred to me is to wonder if the laptop has some sort of special optimization which allowed the faster performance on the Lite-on with small files.

    All other things being equal, the time to find(read) one randomly turned on chip (written) in a big sea of turned-off chips should take longer than a small sea. Same reason cluster error checking takes proportionally longer on a bigger drive than a smaller drive with similar specs --- every cluster must be checked.  Jack E/NJ
