Hello everyone,
I have an Acer Aspire V3- 771G Laptop (exact model 53238G1TMakk) which still has it's original, removable battery (model AS10D31). I it bought in October 2013. For quite some time now, the battery doesn't charge anymore. The laptop is working when the charger is connected, in which case it doesn't matter wether the battery is removed or not. If the battery is not removed, the system says the battery is at 0% and charging. However, it doesn't charge. The 0% appear to be accurate, as the laptop doesn't work at all when the charger is not connected.
The problem first accured after a small automatic Windows update (the ones you get from time to time). Sadly, I do not know the name or the date of this paticular update.
I'm not sure wether the problem is a hardware issue caused by a broken battery or a software issue connected to the update.
From the day I bought the laptop to the day this problem occured, the battery always ran out pretty fast (I estimate it only took about 1 1/5 hours even if I only used a text program), which is why I usually kept in on the charger while using it even if the battery was fully charged. I would not be surprised if the battery was broken after 5 years of use and the "timing" with the update was just a coincidence.
In case it matters: When I bought it, the laptop had Windows 8 pre-installed, and about a year later, I installed the free upgrade to Windows 8.1. However, I did NOT get the Windows 10 upgrade, the laptop still runs on Windows 8.1
