Hello all,
I have a problem with my Acer laptop. It is actually two problems, but they might be related.
The first problem is that sometimes it doesnt boot up. I press the power button and nothing happens - no POST, of course no Windows start up, just a black screen. Pressing F2 or F10 to get into BIOS doesnt work either. Eventually, after several attempts, after removing some or all external connections, e.g. monitor, USB disks, keyboard/mouse, it would boot up and proceed normally. Once it has booted up properly, restarting it goes without a problem.
This problem is not consistent either - it comes and goes. It was gone for a few months - every start up went normally, but a week ago it came back and every time I have to power it off and on several times.
Another problem is that it is misbehaving on start up, sometimes it detects only 1 of my 2 4G memory sticks. I tried removing and plugging them back in, swapping them - doesnt seem to work. It just seem to randomly start working properly on any give reboot.
I have seen some suggestions to replace the BIOS battery (the laptop is about 5 years old), but would that make sense since the problem comes and goes? If the battery was dying/dead. wouldnt I have problems every time?
Any other suggestions what to try or check?
It is an Acer Aspire V3-772G running Windows 7 with 2x4GB of RAM and 100GB Samsung SSD for OS and software.
Thank you beforehand!
