Why is there a random crack above my Esc button? (AN515-53-52FA)

I've never dropped the laptop or even scratched it or well, anything at all.  I don't know what this "crack" is from.

    Do you have a habit of opening/closing the lid a lot. Like everytime you step away from the machine for a few moments? The hinge area is vulnerable to case stress fractures and video ribbon cable breaks if the lid is opened/closed too much. I suggest reinforcing the area with black duct tape to help  reduce further stress and crack progression. Jack E/NJ
