Hello,

I am making another thread since the last one has the wrong replies. I have an Acer Aspire 5 A515-51G. This model comes with an TN panel and an IPS panel. I have the version with the TN panel. The TN panel is very washed out and the colors are poor. I know the IPS panel has better viewing angles. I know which screen replacement will fit my laptop. Those are NOT my questions, my questions are below...

1. Has anyone upgraded from a TN panel to an IPS panel?
2. Is the IPS panel a lot better of an upgrade?
3. Are the colors betters in the IPS panel?
4. Does the panel improve clarity and is less pixelated?
5. Do you notice a huge difference between the TN and IPS panel?
6. Is it worth spending $50 to get the IPS panel?

JackE, have you personally seen an Acer Aspire 5 515-51G with a TN and IPS panel side by side?

Side by side for the Aspire 5 series, not same models though. Set to max, TNs seemed noticeably brighter at normal viewing angles ~30* or less. Other than that, not much stood out between them. So for me at least, even if the screen was free, it wouldn't be worth the risk or hassle of swapping. Jack E/NJ
