Hi,

I recently reset windows 10 on my helios 300 in order to start from a clean slate and have been locked out of my computer. Instead of giving me the option to set up user accounts and other settings after the reset is complete it immediately boots into an account called "other user" which requires a username and password (which I do not have). I have no administrator access, no internet connection and therefore am effectively locked out of my computer. I've tried resetting again and that has failed too.

You need to have some sort of internet connection for signing in to Microsoft Account. Even hotspot from a mobile device will work.

at the moment I cannot get any sort of internet connection (I get a blank screen with the only option being airplane mode) I've tried a hotspot and my wireless connection both failing to appear at all.

UPDATE: I just tried connecting via ethernet and that also fails to work (still says no connection). So currently I have a local account with an unknown username and password which I did not create and I'm unable to connect to the internet at all to log in with a microsoft account.

Unless you are tech savvy, chances are your local admin is still active. Type in "administrator" as user name and leave password blank and see if that helps.

Next time, please make local accounts on laptops.

says the administrator account is disabled.
When I reset windows I was never given the option of creating a local account. I used a local account before the reset as well. When it reset I was given no options to set anything up, it just created this "other user" with an unknown username and password.

You can try creating a bootable windows 10 usb using a different system and use that set up windows on this - fresh and clean, if you have no option left.
Wait... i think F10 or F12 would get you Acer options to restore your laptop to factory settings (beware... this option means your hard disk would be wiped clean to factory).

I wanted to follow up on this post to see if you ever figured out how to get passed the login screen. Did you have to create a bootable Windows 10 disk? This is reficulous.

Do a clean install. I did it last week and was allowed to make a local account. I then installed all the drivers and then only I turned on internet. If you don't have the drivers somewhere, after clean installing, go C Dive and enable viewing hidden files. An OEM folder will be visible. Inside that folder, there would be another folder named Preload. You will find both the network drivers in it.

That's why always keep 1 Windows 10 ISO in hand. You don't know when it can be of great help.

Maybe you might want a OS partition image from next time on.

@tastypavlova  This is the main reason why everyone shouldnt create an online ms account or link it into yours always use/create local accounts

Also im just wondering when you reset to stock did you reset to a clean install or keeping your files because a clean install technically would format everything and let you create a new user account you wouldnt have any existing account created and the issue now is that you cant go to stock anymore by using the usb install drive you have formatted drive completely so the acer stock recovery partition its gone forever now if you need to reset again from now on will have to be with the usb drive only Alt+F10 wont work anymore this is why i always clone the OS drives out of the box just in case something goes wrong you have something to use to recover everything but this is just me to me its always better safe than sorry :)
