    Hi,
Could you please post the model of your laptop/PC, like Axxx-xx and WD HDD model name.

What's the manufacture's date?  I'd be willing to bet that it's over 2 years old. Haven't seen a 750gb deployed in a laptop in quite a while now.

I've dual booted with older drives when I was testing out Linux distros, and that would be just fine. If it's going to have critical data on it, I'd think strongly about getting a new drive. Unless it's a WD 'Black' drive, it probably only has a 1 or 2 year warranty on it.
