Have a weird problem with the AC power connection: the system tray does not recognize when the laptop is connected to an electricity source in linux. The problem happens regardless of whether it’s booted with the cable connected or not, whether it’s connected/disconnected afterwards, the laptop lid opened/closed, etc.

The battery does not seem to be draining – i.e. it stays at the same charge percent as it was when booted up, but the system still takes it as being on battery and triggers energy saving settings.

Setup: predator helios 500 (AMD Ryzen version), debian buster, kernel 4.19, installed typical modules such as acpi-support and linux-firmware.
