    Welp, I guess I have no other suggestions to test if it's a peculiarity of the HP monitors or the HDMI port itself. Sorry, all I can say at this point is that if the HDMI port doesn't work correctly with only a plain vanilla TV hooked up to the computer, then the port itself probably has an issue. Do you possibly have a neighbor or friend with a plain vanilla TV that  you could test the HDMI port out on? Jack E/NJ

    I'll check, but most TVs these days are huge wall-mounted ones. What kind of connector would the TV need to have?

    All TVs should have HDMI ports these days. Many have VGAs too. Jack E/NJ
