Acer made it impossible to officially, legally, and fully for free, update the BIOS of this laptop by not providing BIOS update tools for Linux OSes (Endless, Zorin, etc.). So, is it possible to update the BIOS using FreeDOS, at least legally and for free (because Windows costs money)? Since the BIOS update file (*.fd, *.bin) is a MZ executable ('MZ' at the start of the file), is it possible to launch it inside a FreeDOS environment? (downloading a trial of Windows isn't an option since I don't want to delete my Arch Linux setup for just upgrading the ***** BIOS)

Seems like the flasher is an MZ executable and compatible with FreeDOS too, so I'm gonna try to do it in the QEMU virtual machine (this will obviously fail since it doesn't have an exposed flash like the real thing does).
