Often the local network and M2M MAC addresses along with the SNID can be found on the original UPC packing label. However, MACs can only be used to trace a machine if it's on the same local network, not the internet. Jack E/NJ

Press the WINkey + Rkey. Enter 'cmd'. At the command prompt, enter 'getmac'. The result is the wireless mac address (and wired if you have an RJ45 port).

If you also want the machine's serial number, at the command prompt enter 'wmic bios get serialnumber'.

Thanks a lot dude, but the problem is I lost my laptop few months ago . I have requested all the authorities like police to do an investigation regarding this matter , but to complete that task sometimes they require court orders. So it seems to me that it will take a long time . But if I can have the mac address, I can trace it , so is there anyway of finding mac address using serial number?

It's possible but NOT PROBABLE. In order to track it, the machine must be (1) turned on (2) connected to the same router or hotspot that you are. (3)  Shared on the network to be visible to other computers.  Jack E/NJ
