Hello

I'm trying to connect my Acer Aspire 5 (A515-51-88NY) to an external HP monitor using a USB-C Adapter to DVI.

The monitor (HP w2207) does not have HDMI. It has DVI, VGA and possibly mini-DisplayPort.

The Aspire has one USB-C port and other USB 3.1 ports. When I plug the USB-C to DVI adapter into the USB-C port on the Aspire and into the monitor, I get the error "Display connection might be limited" and the monitor does not work.
If this USB-C port does not support connecting to another monitor (e.g. using DVI), is there a way to make this work using some other method?

Note: I already have my laptop connected to an external monitor using HDMI, now I want to connect a second monitor.

Any ideas if this will work for Windows 10? I already have another external monitor connected to his laptop using HDMI.

Any info is appreciated.

Regards

Wayne

Probably cheapest and least trouble going from HDMI2VGA adapter such as the one below. Jack E/NJ

  • For information, the USB-C port of A515-51 doesn't support DP so no audio/video signal:
