I have a predator helios 300. Why does Ashen run so poorly?

I recently bought Ashen to play with a friend, and the game does not run smoothly at all. Unless I reduce the resolution to 720p and put all the graphics settings on "low" quality, the game runs with a low frame rate and tons of choppiness.

My friend's laptop has far worse specs than mine, but for some reason they can run it just fine on high settings. Ashen is not the kind of game that my laptop should have trouble running, so what's the issue here?

Well some nvidia drivers are very buggy sometimes the best its to downgrade to older versions i remember 417.22 (think it was) was a nightmare even the GTX 1080 were having drastic frame drops i would still were on the ACER stock as its the best and customized for the best hardware performance if i were not forced to update them to the 416 the minimum required to be able to BF5 and other games that came out at the same time but glad u got it sorted :)

It is really a shame that driver 399.24 is the best for DX11 games when it comes to pascal GPUs and it was released months ago. Unfortunately, if you want to play BF5 and probably other games that require a newer driver, there is no choice.

The newest 418.81 seems to work well for pascal, but not better than 417.22.

    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

I am still on 416.94 and never had any issues or any reason to update and as i said i only updated it because BF5 required me to :) and is seems all versions after 416 had been causing issues in someway

I don't determine when a driver is good or bad based on whether I experience issues with it or not. Frame time consistency the helps for the overall smoothness is important.
