Much too bright notebook Aspire A717-72G-74BJ

I bought an Acer Aspire A717-72G-74BJ. The notebook works ok. But it is much too bright - even in it darkest setting - and that gives me light epileptic seizures.
The helpdesk here in the Netherlands can only help me by advising to change the Windows color settings. But that doesn't make much difference as its doesn't affect web pages. And the intensity of the light is still the same.
Obviously the computer can provide a less bright screen - when the power is disconnected it becomes already a lot better than what is possible with power connected. But to enjoy that a bios update will be necessary. Unfortunately my requests in that direction are refused by the Dutch branch. I hope that this forum can bring better results. It is really a shame that Acer sells unhealthy notebooks.
