Touch function disabling from infrequent use on T232HL

I have two T232HL Acer touchscreen monitors that are deployed as kiosk screens in retail stores. Both screens worked fine the first two months of owning them. Over the last two months these screens both will disable their touch functions after being inactive for an hour or two. The screen isn't responsive to touch unless I run a power cycle on the screens. You could imagine what this is doing for my walkup customers to be able to use my software platform. Please advise on possible defects or Windows settings that can perhaps keep the screen active through the day.

Likely the USB port that connects to the touchscreen is set to allow power off when idle for too long. It's not too unusual for a Windows Update to reset configuration. It won't be obvious which it is, so you should just go ahead and change each. In Device Manager open the Universal Serial Bus Controllers section and right click to bring up Properties on each. On the Power Management tab uncheck the option to allow the OS to turn them off.

Try the below step and check

1.Uninstall software installed for USB devices
    2.Update the chipset drivers
3.Connect the device to a different USB port

Unfortunately the chipset drivers are up to date on both monitors. I am wondering why this is happening on two devices at the same time?

Check the cables and also try the USB ports.

@billsey Looks like you had the right idea. The windows updates are removing the power to the USB ports to conserve power. My IT manager is looking into a way to set a local policy. Thank you for the help in identifying the problem. I'm happy it didn't end up being an Acer issue.

A new and similar issue to the last one that is now fixed. Thank you for the suggestion.

After a period of inactivity, the touch screen engages in a sleep cycle that requires a touch to activate it before use. Is there a way to have the touchscreen ready for use at all times? This would be valuable to the demonstration of my company software running on this device. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Actually likely the same problem. The touchscreen sits on an internal USB port, and the port is getting turned off to save power. You have to figure out which device it is in Device Manager, then change the properties to leave it on if you don't want to do that double when waking it.
