As stated in title, as I was shutting down my computer, windows asked me to update and shutdown, which I did, when I turned my laptop back on, my microphone which is plugged into that port
wasn't working. I tried my mouse, wasn't working. I've been in device manager and uninstalled/checked for hardware changes a dozen times, restarted my PC a dozen times, checked the BIOS, but clearly there's nothing there to control USB. I'm clueless! It was working fine just five minutes ago.

Help much appreciated!

Go to control panel>large/small icons>recovery>open system restore and select a restore point before the windows update made the USB port stop working.
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

Thanks for the reply guys, I tried doing what you said, but sadly I get an "unexpected error" when trying to rollback, none of the points I can select work.. fml. Is there another way of rolling back?

This has been solved, for some reason the port is working now again... I did what the boys said, I also uninstalled the latest winupdate files, still solved itself randomly though, but worth a shot if you should have the same issues.
