Helios 300 Design issue, please stay away from that model!
I bought an Acer helios 300 gaming laptop from Argos on 18/12/2018. But when playing games PUBG with AC adapter plugged in, the battery will lose power/charge for about 10% per half hour; and once it's under 50%, the performance will drop dramatically and reduce gaming experience significantly! I took it back to Argos, they refused to accept return or refund, and told me to contact Acer for repairs. So I contacted Acer on the 23rd, and their reply was to ask me to do a battery reset. I did rest and that didn't solve the problem. Then I sent it to Acer for test and repairs on 04/01/2019, they didn't solve the problem either and their test report stated that ''it's a battery charging design and it is to prevent the CPU throttling and keep GPU in higher performance when the system is in heavy loading''. I wasn't happy about their action and response, so send it back again on 11/01/2019 and told them that ''If it's battery charging design when heavy loading, why Acer and Argos don't show/publish this info to customers before purchase? This is a gaming laptop as marketed, it's not supposed to perform like this and reduce gaming performance while AC adaptor plugged in!''. Now I have received the laptop back from repair, the problem still exists! Can only play PUBG for 2 and half hours MAX, after that it slows down and only generates around 30fps, you cannot play at that rate. If people knew there was a design issue on this model, people wouldn't buy it! It is lack of product information from Acer and misleading advert to make people believe that the laptop is a decent spec gaming machine. But the result proves the opposite! The product is not as described!
Now the situation is, Argos refuses to accept return unless Acer provides a Faulty Reference Number; and Acer refuses to provide that number as they say it's a design issue not a manufacturing fault. None of them want to take any responsibility, especially Acer! Although, the escalation team admitted it's a design issue over the phone to me. Worst experience of buying laptop and terrible customer service from both ACER AND ARGOS! So, stay away from Helios 300, if you don't want problems like mine.
