Hey,
I did a factory reset of my laptop couple of weeks ago and now the sound is not working. When I plug in headphones they work but when I remove them the sound doesn't work. Sound was working perfectly fine before the factory reset. I've uninstalled "Realtek High Definition Audio" and downloaded the latest one from the Acer website but still doesn't work. On the Playback tab, I have one device there called "Speakers" which is the default device with a green check mark. Under "Recording" I have 2 devices, "Microphone" which is enabled and "Stereo Mix" which is disabled.

First, try right clicking on the "Speaker" icon on the taskbar and then click "Open Volume Mixer". Make sure nothing is muted.
    try the following...

    1. Go to "Control Panel".
    2. Click on "Sound".
    3. Make sure you are on the "Playback" tab.
    4. Click on the device you are trying to fix.
    5. Now click the "Configure" button and follow the prompts. (Be sure you also click the "Test" button.)
    6. Once that is complete, click the "Properties" button.
    7. When you are done with your changes, in "Properties", click "Apply" and then "OK".
    8. Then click "OK", again, on the main "Sound window".
