Hello, I have an old Gateway DX 4860 with Acer motherboard and P01-A4 BIOS, on which I recently installed Windows 10 Pro (after the upgraded Windows 10 pro got corrupted). I am not sure if the BIOS was P01-A3 or older but now it shows P01-A4 and is an UEFI BIOS. Not sure if the software I used to convert the MBR to GPT did it automatically.

I have a GPGPU (8 GB) that I want to use on this but after putting that in, it refuses to boot with 1 long/2 short beeps. I understand the GPGPU card is the cause and needs "above 4G decoding" to be enabled. However, I do not see that option anywhere and also do not see the "legacy OpROM" or PCIe ROM options in the BIOS.

What are my options now? Is there a later version of BIOS that I can install which can give me those options? Is there a newer BIOS version existing compatible with Windows 10?

I don't think there is any new version of the BIOS.

Since the motherboard was designed and built before cards larger than 4GB were available, I doubt the BIOS supports that. You may have to downgrade to a card with no more than 4GB of memory.

You shouldn't have issues with Windows 10 as such, I think they are all to do with the GPU card. The x16 slot is supposed to be PCI Express 2.0 compliant, using the Intel H67 chipset. Your card is likely not backwards compatible with the 2.0 spec.

I got the Nvidia Tesla K10, which has 8 GB RAM. On Nvidia’s website, I believe I read that it would run in 2.0 speeds if the PCIe is of 2.0. But what about above 4G decoding? Do you think this version of Bios supports it but does not show the option anywhere? Do you know if there is a later version of this Bios? Thanks.

I would have loved to know if this Bios supports “above 4G decoding”? From your comments, it sounds like it does but need confirmation from Acer since the motherboard and Bios is from Acer.
