Predator GX-792 does not boot after adding 16GB RAM module

I have a GX-792 with 16GB RAM installed from factory.

I am trying to upgrade the RAM by adding a Crucial Ballistic 2400 DDR4 card.

When I install the card, the PC does not boot. It boots fine if I take it out.

I have tried it in both the available slots which are accessible from the removing the small hexagonal back cover.

I believe that the laptop has two 8GB Kingston modules currently installed.

Usually if the RAM is 16GB, then most likely it is 2x8. To be sure you can easily find out with HWiNFO.

I suspect the issue could be latency related. Maybe the ballistix RAM can't run at the same latency as the other RAM.

Maybe the issue could be in the BIOS, so I would suggest you to try updating the BIOS to latest version. Go to Acer's driver download and under the Firmware/BIOS tab download the latest version 1.08. It will slow down your CPU a bit, because of the spectre vulnerability fix. If you don't want your CPU slowing down install version 1.07.

After you download the archive extract the file. Before running it make sure the battery is fully charged and device plugged in. After you start the installation the system will restart and begin with the installation(don't turn it off until the installation is complete). Note: the system my restart several times during the installation. After the installation is completed it will automatically boot in windows.
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

He can't install the 16GB by itself, because the laptop has 4 RAM slots, two at the back and another 2 on the other side of the motherboard. To access the other 2 slots he has to teardown the laptop to pieces, which will most likely void the warranty if it isn't in the US, plus he might not be confident in disassembling the whole system and assembling it back.

oh you mean the existing 2 rams are on the inner side of the mb. then its a tough task. and removing those is not advisable for a novice.

Yup pretty much well if he doesn't have any warranty seals (assuming that in the country he is he can open it without voiding it) and feels comfortable in doing it himself he could try it but in any other case he would have to contact acer in order to do it
