This exact laptop @ newegg.  https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=0N6-000D-00046

I need to replace my daughter's optical drive.  Spent over an hour and still can't find list of possible replacement parts.
Will any optical drive do?
A search on newegg using 'acer aspire replacement optical drive' yields several for about $10.  Will they work, or is the drive proprietary, like my son's gateway optical drive was?
I just want to replace the drive without paying for an over-priced replacement.
I can't find out for sure if any optical drive will work, like it did in my toshiba satellite, or only specific brands/models.

Thanks

    Hello,
I would suggest you this one (original part).

Thank you laurent_14.  I should have come here first, it would have saved me a few hours.  I ordered it.  Hope I only have to remove one screw on the outside bottom and switch the drives out.  Anything else I should know?  It was years ago when I replaced son's gateway drive and my toshiba drive.  Don't recall exactly what I did, but it couldn't have been too difficult.

    Hello,
You're welcome :). You'll have to follow the instructions stated in the attachments to remove/disassembly the optical drive and parts. To assembly and insert the unit doing the reverse operations.

Third image, steps 6 & 7, odd bracket ?  Remove screws?  Please elaborate.  If I recall, last time, I switched bezel then just gently pushed new drive into slot, the connectors connected and I replaced screw holding unit in.  Don't recall removing any screws.

    Hello,
Yes you'll have to unscrew the two screws and fix the bracket on the new drive as well as the bezel (black plastic part).

In one of the Acer Manuals it states that the part number  of the Optical Drive can be found in the, "AVLC." What and where is that? Please :-)
