Hello, so recently for black Friday I bought an Acer predator helios 300 off amazon and am having massive FPS drops down to 15 fps that gradually come back up over the next 5-10 seconds. I do not think the problem is my temps. I use a cooling pad and my temps max out at 96 degrees Celsius but usually settle at around 88 degrees Celsius . I've updated my NVIDIA drivers and intel drives. and my BIOS update is on 1.19. I've gone and disabled everything in the game bar and all of that, and I don't have any 3rd party programs installed. I don't know what else could be cause my problem. any suggestions would be nice.

After 90 degreed it will start to thermal throttle optimizing windows and undervolt might solve your issue if still persists repaste with kryonaut or some good thermal paste with the same specs also post your exact model and specs also updating the gpu drivers might nor help as the acer stock drivers are the best customized drivers to use unless you play BF5 you are forced to upgrade to 416 minimum you can follow all instructions here

By the way is the CPU reaching 96C(more often 88C) or the GPU?
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

    Hi guys!

Recently I have same problems. When I bought my laptop in past April from that time I had normal temperatures, maximum spike at 85 C°. But before a month (I also installed a fresh BIOS driver), started temperature problems. 98 C° spike, average temperatures above 85 C°. I gave my laptop to a service, where cleaned and get a new MX-400 paste. Now I'm trying to decrease CPU performance in Windows energy settings to 90-80% but then I got FPS drops near a normal temperature. So I start to became disappointed with this Predator Helios 300, I don't know mine is bad or basically this type laptop bad or I don't know what can I do to get a continuous >85 C° temperature.
