Swift 3 HDMI problem

Hi all,
recently bought a Swift 3 (SF314-52-552X) for my wife and found that it is having apparently some Random (!) problems with HDMI cables or TVs. Connection is apparently OK (2 screens in display settings) but no signal at the peer end (I'm an IT engineer so I have some knowledge). I tried several cables, TVs and I still haven't figured out a pattern, sometime it works, sometimes not. I also tried ALL the drivers in Acer website, no improvements.

Is anybody else having the same issue?
And is USB-C an alternative for HDMI connections and VGA as well (using an adapter)?

Thank you for any help, she's using that for her daily job and I'm starting to feel I bought an untrustable laptop. I'm not even sure that this would be enough for a refound.

I also wrote Acer Support channel but I'm not expecting much help from there.
Rick

You know any way to check USB-C capability in advance based on model type? Thanks again!
According to the service manual for your specific model it states, "USB Type-C port - Connects to USB devices that adopt the USB Type-C connector. Supports USB 3.1 Type-C, Gen 1 with transfer speeds up to 5 Gb/s". That is not good news.

This is the exact thing it says for my SF-114-32. I wanted to see if I could connect an HDTV to the USB-C port so i bought a cheap USB-C to HDMI adapter and tried to connect my 1080p HDTV. It did NOT detect the TV. I also tested with a 4K TV, it also did NOT work.

The only other hope would be if someone else with your exact model has already tested this for you. I cannot say whether it will work or not, you'd have to test it yourself if you can't find the answer online.

You may have a faulty unit if your HDMI port is intermittently working. It should pretty much be plug and play. If not, you may be able to return the computer for a refund or send it to Acer for warranty repair.

Not all USB-C ports support external displays. For example, my Swift 1 SF114-32 does not display to an HDTV via USB-C to HDMI adapter. It seems that my USB-C port is only for data transfer at USB 3.1 Gen 1 (5 Gbps) spec. I may need an active USB-C to HDMI/DP/VGA adapter to use an external display but I haven't yet tested this.

Thanks... I think I'll go for the cheap adapter test!
It's really astonishing that Acer does not provide all these info beforehand...
