Do I need a special driver or something so I can hook an external monitor to my Aspire laptop?

I have my Acer X203W monitor plugged into my Acer Aspire laptop. The screen has shifted to the left about 2" and I can't figure out how to get it back. As well, the text, etc., on the laptop has shrunk to about 75% of full screen.
Is it possible to have an external monitor hooked to a laptop? Thanks for your help - Merry Christmas from the wild plains of Saskatchewan...

Hello. Yes, you should not have a problem connecting a monitor to the laptop. You can try resetting the monitor settings or try the auto adjustment if you have this option. Also you can try changing the resolution(the native resolution is 1680x1050) and make sure that 'second screen only is selected by pressing Fn+f5.
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.
