Tried a couple of things, but to no avail I can't seem to update the BIOS.
I've used this https://us.answers.acer.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/51890/~/intel-security-vulnerabilities-regarding-intel®-management-engine-(me),
The main.bat doesn't run for me. I've tried searching for the manual update but it seems I can't go from R01 to R02 and the acer aspire BIOS update page for the ACT 780 only has R02.

Want to update for the inevitable spectrum/meltdown ordeal though I'm a bit late to updating.
Any help appreciated thanks.

(My BIOS version is R01-A1.)

there's not such update for your model.

by the way, have you checked if your model is vulnerable?

    Yes, my model is vulnerable.
Is there nothing I can do about meltdown/spectre then? Or will they have an eventual update.

had you try to move the whole folder to C: and run the main.bat as administrator? (rigth click it and choose Run as Administrator).

if it's still not working, probably there's an error the BIOS check fro the Readkey.bat.

you can check on the error.log file inside the downloaded file...i hope so

Yes, I've tried the C: one as well. Doesn't work.

Not sure on how to go about fixing these errors though.

    Any antivirus running?

by the way, that are 2 generic strings also present on clean file, so not trustable of the real issue.

try again with defender stopped even if, in my opinion, will not solve the issue.

i don't have any other suggestions, sorry.
