There might the problem with the hinges that connect the screen to keyboard. but you can try doing power drain but still if you have the issue I guess you need to call Acer Tech support. Please check the below link for Acer tech support:

Try these steps and check :
power drain: Just check the back of the unit, you can find a pin hole , unplug the charger and turn off the unit. now put a paper clip in the small pin hole and press and hold it for 30 sec.
BIOS default: After power drain is done, power on the unit, but as soon as you power on the unit keep pressing the F2 key so that it take you to BIOS page. Press F9 and press Enter than press F10 and press Enter. the unit will restar:-1:

It doesn't look like a screen problem to me beacuse the laptop just freezes completely and then I have to hold the power button to turn it off. I also noticed that it only happens when you put pressure where the ram cover is. Is it because of the switch that needs to be pressed all the time and when unpressed this happens?

That is the security safety power switch in the ram compartment the pc will not work with the compartment open (it's a safety precaution most laptops also have pressure switches along the chassis) or not properly closed try to screw it properly if it still does the same it means the door it's not pressing the kill switch properly try to get something between to get it properly pressed check this thread

I too was facing same issue. Firstly I thought it might be due to the kill switch located near the ram slot but after many days of continuous search for the solution I finally found that the issue was due to the bad RAM stick. The stick was working fine but after slightly flexing, it freezed the laptop with weird artifacts on screen (confirmed it with repeated testing). So do make sure to check out the RAM sticks if they have problem or the RAM slots have any problem along with the kill switch.
