So last night i did a re-paste on my PH315-51. It looked like it had alot of paste on it as i could barely see cpu/gpu under the paste. So i did my clean up got it shiny and applied my new paste, Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut. Started up my laptop and holy ***** the temps were all over! I even hit 85°C on my GPU, my device has been running hotter the last couple of days since i hooked up and external monitor, i was hoping the repaste would help with the temps but i fear i may have made the problem worse as both CPU and GPU change temps much much quicker. So i think ive either got too much paste or too little.

    Hi,
You have used a little too much paste, you need only a small amount of paste, please watch this video by our fellow member @Red-Sand and pay attention to the amount he applies.

If yo used Kryonaut just use the applicator to apply just a small layer enough to cover the cpu/gpu diodes too much is no good as neither not enough it has to be the exact amount make sure its just a mall layer and not pouring out into the microchips i applied kryonaut on mine after the rubbish application that came with it and i have 20+ lower temps wont go over 75 max cpu and 69 max gpu on ultra on all games yours might be up to 80-85 after repaste which is normal for your specs

Ya I did another repaste yesterday with considerably less paste and noticed a pretty good drop in CPU and GPU temps, I think i might still have a little too much still as the temp increases very slowly over time. I'll do another repaste over the next few days and use the spatula to do the thin layer as suggested and post the results here. Thanks guys!

I just used the applicator tip that came with my Kryonaut tube (some don't bring it all depends of the package u buy i bought 11g tube enough to repaste all my 6 laptops at least 4 or 5 times :p ) to apply it :) but seems your efforts are worth it ur getting the results you expected thats awesome

Did another repaste this time with the spatula included in my kyonaut bag, deifantely looks alot cleaner and covered alot better. CPU idle at low 40s, GPU idle high 30s my fans actually turned off lol, CPU average under heavy load was low 80s, same with GPU under heavy load, with a dual monitor. I only mention dual monitor cause I've noticed when i run the dual monitor, my GPU runs several degrees hotter. I'm assuming due to the HDMI slot running off of my GPU. All in all Ill give it a week of testing or so and see how it goes!

Exactly same temps on idle as mine :) and same here with the fans temps are so low that they just stop for awhile so that's it u made it :) and on an 8th gen they usually run much more hotter than the 7th gen ones well done and yes running either dual or single monitor increases temps according to what was reported i don't use any external accessories apart from the mouse i play on it as it is :)
