AN515-53 - System hangs and crashes to black screen until forced reboot

I've been having this issue lately. Under just medium use, my whole system will start to lag and then freeze completely. It was supposed to be fixed on BIOS version 1.15, and I'm already updated to the even newer 1.19 version. I can't figure out how to stop it and can't be very productive for fear of these sudden hang ups. Would it be totally stupid to try and revert to the older BIOS that specifically addressed this issue?? I'm at a loss and would really appreciate any insight on this issue.

Did you update to 1.19 due to this problem? If not, what other problem were you trying to fix with 1.19? Jack E/NJ

Thanks for replying. Yes. This was my only problem. The "fix" said to update to 1.15 or later version to correct the issue. 1.19 was the latest, so I updated to that. There has been no change.

In theory, the latest 1.19 should have cumulative fixes that include 1.15. But the latest sometimes introduce other issues. If the lag-freezing-black screen is still you're only problem, and it only started recently, you should check Control Panel for a restore point with a date stamp that approximately coincides with the time this problem started. Restore points didn't have an effect. Thanks for the suggestion.

I think I may have fixed the issue, though. I took a risk and forced the 1.15 version to flash by disabling the version check. Upon reboot, it automatically wanted me to flash the 1.19 version again, so I did. I don't know if maybe there was an error last time 1.19 was flashed or what, but I've been able to fully multitask now with no issues so far.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. BIOS flashing is a risky operation. Jack E/NJ
