I have an Aspire E 17 ES1-711-P14W.  A few years ago I found something online on how to lock the touchpad in the registry since I always use a mouse and the touchpad was interfering.  Now I am having periodic trouble with my mouse where all of a sudden it stops working - new battery, shut off and back on - and have to shut the laptop down with windows open.  Can't even do a CTRL-ALT-DEL.  Now I want to unlock the touchpad in the registry to see if the touchpad will work when the mouse stops and I can't find out how to do that.  I'm running Windows 10 Pro v1803.  I know there is FNC F7 on the keyboard but it doesn't do anything when pressed.

Solved.  The change had to be made in the BIOS - touchpad/basic instead of advanced.  Happy Holidays!!
