Hello,
I just setup my laptop. Under the C:/Users folder it automatically created a folder using the first five characters of my email address. How can I change the name of this folder? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
John

Not recommended if the re-name option isn't available. Best to make a shortcut to this 5-character folder and call it anything you want. Jack E/NJ

I figure there's got to be a way to edit an INI file or something.

Sure there's a way. But this isn't Win98SE or even WinXP anymore. You're asking for trouble because of all the linked files you're gonna have to edit, some of which are not text INIs. Jack E/NJ

Yeah, that's a very annoying feature of Windows 10. But as others have said, I'd leave everything as it is. At an upside, your Personal Folder icon on the desktop will display the name you entered when you made your Microsoft account instead of the first five characters of the email address.

Alternatively, don't use a Microsoft account but an offline account. As long as you don't need any software from the store or other features that require a Microsoft account, you'll be fine.
