I purchased my desktop with the OS preinstalled (Windows 7x64 home premium). If I need a copy of the OS software to reinstall the OS on the new drive, where can I get a copy for my Acer Aspire XC-605G?

If you have not made any changes to the factory shipped windows operating system, you can create a recovery media and use it to restore windows on the SSD.
The below weblink has information on how to create and use the recovery media.

You can also try migrating your original hard drive( whole disk) using migrate feature in Minitool Partition wizard, I found it very useful program.  https://www.partitionwizard.com/free-partition-manager.html
