So by product value what I mean is, will I be needing a new computer every 3 years because Acer feels this it the functioning life of a computer.  Apparently this is the view HP takes.  Problem was, the PCI-E slot was supposed to accept pci-e 16x cards.  It did not and a bios update was required.   I was told by their support that no more  bios update would be forthcoming since the item was now 3 years old, out of warranty and according to them ready for the recycling bin.  (Well past its "functionality" expectation).  Question.. does Acer continue to provide bios updates past warranty date for future functionality of Acer computers.  Example, if i added a nvida 450 pci-e card today and in 3 yrs wanted to add a nvida 930 pci-e card, (or whatever the current cards are in Acer pc) am I going to be able to do future upgrades or will I be limited by an outdated bios?  I have actually seen Acer being used  10 years or more past purchase date.  (usually 2nd hand by little old ladies for a first computer to email grand kid pics or for a 5 year olds first pc)  Fact is, these older computers generate a lot of new pc sales, once these little old ladies discover they can also watch cat videos and rant about soap operas on tweeter. ( if you tweet, its TWEETER. lol)
Sorry about the extra info but i felt i should include the root of the issue so you would understand that many people do not buy a new pc just because it went out of the warrenty period.
PS.. I would never buy another HP no matter how cheap the price.

I'm not an Acer employee, so don't have insight into their internal procedures... Acer doesn't have a fixed limit for updates that I'm aware of, they typically provide bug fix updates to the BIOS and since often there aren't bugs that need to be patched, they don't update the BIOS. Same thing goes for drivers, they provide updates when there are bug fixes and rely on Microsoft to bundle more generic updates. For your example, if the GPU expansion slot is an x16 and the card is an x16 card it's likely to work when you attempt the upgrade, as long as you have the correct power budget available.
