No Internet, no system restore, no empowering technology!

I am trying to repair my brothers acre 1 net book. He has been unable to connect to Internet for a while but can get to router. PC World looked at it and said drivers were missing. I took it to my house and found a yellow question mark through Ethernet controller in device manager so downloaded it again. It still doesn't work. System restore also doesn't work, just says unable to protect your computer try turning off and try again but it never works. I read about alt F10 and tried this but it doesn't dork, just goes into windows. I can't find a d drive or an acre empowering technology. The NetBoot sees the router with excellent signal strength but don't connect to Internet. What can I do?

Thanks for this. I have tried to do this many times but I don't get the options. I hit ALT f10 and it just carries on booting into windows. Does the Acer Aspire 1 not have the option for this? I can't even see the empowering technology programme
