I am having a freezing problem that's been going on since I first got this machine. I've been trying to ignore it, but it's getting to be difficult. Freezes typically happen if I am browsing Facebook, but lately I've noticed it if I review the Black Friday deals for the Google Pixel phones on the Google Play store:

I have removed all extensions and reset all flags. Even after doing that and rebooting, the problem will still happen after a minute or two of browsing. From browsing around, it seems that I am not the only one with this model that experiences this problem. It's really ashamed because this is a great 15" chromebook otherwise.

Currently, I am  using chrome Version 71.0.3578.49 (Official Build) beta (64-bit), but I can assure everyone that I have used plenty of different versions of Chrome beta and non beta in the time that I have had this machine.

Does anyone have any ideas what's causing this or a way around it?

Many reasons except for malware unless you dabbled in Developer Mode.
Before you discover a hardware problem, ask vendor for refund or Acer for repair under warranty.

Although the page takes forever to load on mine, it doesn't actually freeze. Sounds like it's time to contact support for a repair.

After some playing around, I noticed that if I disable the flag called "WebRTC hardware video encoding" in Google Chrome's flag settings on my Chromebook 15 CB5-571, the freezing seems to have stopped. I will contact support about this.
