My monitor (AL2216W) resets or stay blank every time i try to use it.

Whenever my computer goes to sleep or resets, my monitor goes into hibernation and will not successfully come out of it (Also when my monitor turns off from inactivity).  It will either keep on trying to come on (flashing "ACER" on the screen) but then reset, or it will go blank and do nothing.  If I try to turn on the monitor by hitting the monitor's power button, nothing happens except the light goes blank (and it stops resetting if that's what it was doing at the time). I've tried power cycling the monitor, as well as hooking it up to other computers, using different cords, and using spare video cards. The computer seems to work well with other monitors.

I have seen a number of posts similar to this one I am typing, but in all of them, ACER employees or computer tchnicians have stated that it was either the computer or cord or a compatability issue, all of which I have ruled out, and this problem has gotten worse as time progressed (it used to last for a few minutes and then start working, now it's not coming on at all no matter how long I wait).  Most of the posts have also refered customers to the ACER support center, but this center does not help; it shows these questions and answers, and to email a question to a support staff member, i was refered to the site: http://acer.custhelp.com/app/pre_ask_launch, which states that I would have to pay $19 to have my question answered, since my warrantee has expired.  While I understand that the warrentee is no longer valid, I would have thought that the customer service representatives would at least try to help without charging a rather high cost.

If anyone knows what I can do to fix this issue, which from all I have read and researched appears to have affected at least a dozen or more customers (no telling how many more who did not post about the problem or whose posts are gone), please let me know. If it is a hardware defect in the AL2216W monitor, then I hope ACER will at least admit the fault.
