    I did noticed the absence of the Boot Mode in your screenshot previously.
    Have you tried enabling then disabling Secure Boot?

    I do not have Secure Boot option anywhere in the BIOS as well as UEFI.

    Your device may be in Legacy mode instead of UEFI.  See this webpage to find out.
    If you are in Legacy, it is necessary to convert MBR to GPT.

    This Convert BIOS mode Legacy to UEFI of Installed Windows. What i need is the actual BIOS to do that in order to be able to get rid of security boot. Basically i need BIOS update for Aspire v3-571G

    Your V3-571G does not have a UEFI BIOS chip because it originally shipped with Windows 7 which does not support UEFI BIOS. DO NOT TRY TO UPDATE BIOS BEYOND v1.13 or you will brick the machine. Jack E/NJ

    ishmaeljosieWhy did you change the boot option to legacy mode? You have a newer model that either had Win8x, Win10 or Linux factory installed in UEFI mode. You must change the setting back to UEFI mode or the machine won't boot. Jack E/NJ

    This a is a way of upgrading Acer BIOS v1.xx to 2.xx on Acer Aspire V3-571G and V3-571, the v1/13 BIOS chip is UEFI  compliant on both and its only restricted by the OP system that it came with e.g. Windows 7 versions BIOS chip was restricted by the BIOS software to v1.xx only and Windows 8.x is only compliant to v2.xx by software only. This is the way to edit the v2xx to install onto the v1.xx BIOS Windows 7 versions.

    How to update to 2.x bios from 1.x bios (applicable for Acer\eMachines\Gateway\Packard Bell)

    Link - https://catchtito.blogspot.com/2013/05/how-to-update-to-2x-bios-from-1x-bios.html?showComment=1572138640111#c3668386653974001456

    WARNING - Don't try this mod if you are not experienced and DONT have alternative options to recover your 1.xx BIOS, as it will make your computer "INTO A BRICK"!!!
    ONLY attempt this mod if you have a spare BIOS v1.xx chip that you can replace the one that you have modded and it dies or wont boot! This sorts of BIOS mods should only be attempted by very experienced computer technicians that know and can take alternate steps to recover a bricked computer with a dead BIOS chip!
    A normal person will/can experience lots of problems and this mod is NOT recommended!

    For its recent laptop models; Acer (and its subsidiaries) choose a weird way of delivering bios updates. When a model is sold without Windows 8, then it is delivered with 1.x bios which lacks UEFI booting and Secure Boot support. If the same model is sold with Windows 8, then it is delivered with 2.x bios with the option of UEFI booting and Secure Boot.

    Problem is a user can't update from 1.x bios to 2.x bios with the downloaded bios update. Its shows: "Please update to the same type of bios (v.1.x)".

    To avoid this detection, we have to hex-edit the following:

    Note: This is the best method for Acer Aspire V3-571G with v1.13 BIOS use this method with Hex,editor

    Open the bios update application with your favorite hex editor and locate the following:

    DisableSecureCapsuleFlash=1

    Change it to as follows:

    DisableSecureCapsuleFlash=0

    Save the changes. You can now update to 2.x using this modded bios. Flash from DOS or Windows.

    If you can't find the above string in the bios update application, then we need to take another path.

    Extract the application using 7-Zip and try to locate isflash.bin (which is your bios file) & platform.ini. Then open them with hex editor and change like above. Now flash using InsydeFlash.exe.

    To overcome all of the checks, we need to edit more:

    DisableCompare=0
    to
    DisableCompare=1

    &

    SkipSecureBootProtectionCheck=0
    to
    SkipSecureBootProtectionCheck=1

    If you want a SLIC mod, then mod the downloaded bios update using andyp's tool. We have to alter another thing to flash the SLIC modded bios.

    Again open the bios update application with your favorite hex editor and locate the following:

    [ForceFlash]
    ALL=0

    Change it as follows:

    [ForceFlash]
    ALL=1

    After updating to 2.x bios, you can safely update to subsequent updates without any modding. Note that you may have to re-install your previous Windows 8 installation after updating from 1.x to 2.x bios

    Hope this helps BUT BE CAREFUL AND DO THIS WITH GREAT CAUTION!!!

    Note: to my post above: the Acer UEFI replaces the traditional BIOS on its and from Windows 8.x UEFI V3's laptops. Firstly and please be aware that, there’s no way to switch from BIOS to full UEFI on an existing BIOS PC or Laptop. You need to buy new hardware that supports and includes UEFI, as most new computers do.

    But, most UEFI implementations provide BIOS emulation so you can choose to install and boot old operating systems that expect a BIOS instead of UEFI, so they’re backwards compatible and that is what this mod above does, its not a full UEFI.

    StevenGen Thank you for this super detailed set of instructions. I had 1.13 bios on an Acer V3-571G and managed to edit the 2.21 BIOS exe as you instructed with a hex editor called 'Hex Editor Neo'. It worked 100%. I only had to follow this step 'DisableSecureCapsuleFlash=0'. Today is Thursday 21st October and despite all the info being from quite an old post it worked perfectly. After I updated the BIOS I was able to change the boot mode to UEFI as the option became available in the new BIOS. To make my existing Win 10 21H1 installation UEFI I converted the disk from MBR to GPT with the free 'Paragon Partition Manager CE', then once I set the BIOS to UEFI the machine booted without a hitch. Thank you and God bless you for taking the time to make this post :)

    Just tried this within Windows 11 everything was looking good then half-way through flashing it rebooted without any prompting, I'm putting it down to Windows 11's aggressive rebooting policy (which you can apparently disable). Too little too late! Ahh well at least I've got a reason to buy a new one now. Anyway forewarned is.....Something!
