I have just been trying to get audio output to work on an Aspire ATC-605-UB11 desktop running Windows 8.1 without success.

I think that the main problem is a driver problem.  In the device manager, there is a "High Definition Audio Device" that has an issue of "The Device can not start (Code 10)".

I have gone to the Acer drivers page for this desktop and installed the latest drivers available for Audio and the Intel AMT but neither seem to fix the issue.

Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone have an idea of how to fix this?

at first, uninstall the driver completely and restart the device. Post which check if the driver still gives you error code.

Also, if it does not show any error then go to control panel, Hardware and sound, click on sound and under playback devices check if the speakers icon is present. IF yes, then make a right click and test it.
