How many pci e lanes does the m.2 port use?

Probably 2 lanes. But you can double check by going to https://www.hwinfo.com/download/ and download their 32/64 bit freeware hardware tool. Check the link width max for the PCIe root port. Jack E/NJ

I am using a sata ssd right now on the m.2 port and probably is the reason i cant see the lanes on hwinfo.

When i had optane i remember the intel RST software report 2 lanes but i thought that was the specification of the optane stick not the m.2 port.
