after updating windows, every time I try to add a new game in the switchable graphics option, the raedon software freezes. I can't close it or restart it. I wanted to add a game that I recently installed and set graphics to performance mode so that the dedicated graphics is used. I tried updating drivers but it didn't solve the problem. I am attaching a picture of the tab. Everytime the freezing problem happens in this tab. Please let me know how to fix it. My laptop is acer nitro 5( Ryzen 5, Raedon RX560X 4GB dedicated GPU).

Press WINkey+Rkey. Enter msinfo32.exe. (1) What is the BIOS version number? (2) What is your full model number AN515-??  Jack E/NJ

    >>>after updating windows,>>>

Open Control Panel. Search restore point. Click create a restore point on the left panel. Click system restore. Can you find a restore point around the time the radeon freezing started? Jack E/NJ

Yes I did apply this update. I believe I last updated it in October, when I first bought this laptop.

If you restored the machine to a point before the 10.0.17134 update and it didn't fix the problem, then how come it's still running the same 10.0.17134 update?  Jack E/NJ

Everytime I click on restore, the laptop goes through the entire restoration process and when it turns on it says that windows was not restored totally, something is preventing it from doing so. When I checked everything, I noticed that except some apps being uninstalled, everything else was just the same.

To rule in or rule out a hardware issue, you should try a factory reset using the ALT+F10 method outside of the Windows environment. First disable fast boot. Then shut the machine. Turn it back on and immediately press and hold the ALT key while tapping the F10 key till a recovery screen appears as shown in the video below. You have the option of saving personal files but a full reset would be best. Jack E/NJ

I have done a factor reset. To be on the safe side I selected "delete everything" option. But after it restarted I noticed that there was no Radeon settings option when I right clicked. Although I got it when I pressed windows button and searched for Radeon settings. Also when I went to device manager I saw that the monitor driver was the generic windows one. Windows is showing that there are no updates to install. Is  this normal or is something wrong?

Seems normal to me. In Device Manager, the Radeon driver should be in the Display folder. And the LCD screen driver should be in the Monitor folder. And unless you have some kind of an unusual LCD screen, the monitor should be generic Microsoft ca. 2006. Now try to add a new game to the switchable graphics option before a Windows update messes it up again. Jack E/NJ

Thanks so much for your help. I was about to call in a technician. But it's fixed now. Also can can you tell me how do I get the radeon settings when I right click? Currently it's not displaying the option as it used to before. I have to press windows key and search for radeon settings to get there.

Also I went to acer's website and found they have given new BIOS, VGA driver, Sound and touch pad drivers for download. They have mentioned that the new version of BIOS brings with it performance improvement. Should I download and install them? If yes then which ones do I actually need and should download?

NO!!!! Unless the machine has a specific problem that the update is stated to fix, do NOT update, expecially the BIOS firmware. Jack E/NJ

Leave it this way for now. What happens when you right click an empty desktop area, then right click on graphics properties? Jack E/NJ

Tried to get into switchable graphics. I wanted to add rise of the tomb raider. Clicked on installed applications and browsed to add the game. As soon as I clicked on tomb raider the Radeon software freezes. Again. I don't know what to do.

OK. Quickly go to Control Panel. Search restore point. Select create a restore point in the left panel. Click on system restore. Click next. Do you see a restore point that was created today or yesterday? Jack E/NJ

A restore point was created today. But it was after I reset the laptop. I uninstalled x split gamecaster. The restore point was created then. But the freezing problem was still present during that time.
