acer nitro 5 an515-51 headset option not asking

i got the laptop about may of 2018.When i plugged in my headset (i had to use the audio combiner cause it has only one aux port).A window popped asking me how i want to use it it had 5 options i used
the headset option but it kept asking whenever i connected so i put the dont ask again.Then all of a sudden one day my microphone stopped working i thought it was headphone problem.But i got new ones still my microphone doesnt work
i still dont know if it is some issue with the laptop or the aux cables

• Try these steps:

  • Select the Start  button, type Device Manager, and then select Device Manager from the list of results. Under Sound, video and game controllers, select your sound card, open it, select the Driver tab, and then select Update Driver. If Windows doesn't find a new driver, look for one on the device manufacturer's website and follow their instructions.

• If that didn't work, try this:

  • Uninstall your audio driver: in Device Manager, right-click (or press and hold) the audio driver, and then select Uninstall. Restart your device and Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.
