So I have a 500GB Samsung 960 EVO NVMe drive from my old laptop. Wanted to use it in my Helios 500 (faster I/O). When I install it in the laptop, and use the recovery drive I created with Acer Care Center, it goes through the recovery, up until about 5%, then quits, and says it can't recovery this PC. I install it in my old laptop, and used it to recover, and it works with the drive just fine.
I tried changing to AHCI, RST with Optane, and RST Premium with Optane. None of them seem to work. Is there some special trick to upgrading the NVMe in the Helios 500? I never had this trouble with my Predator 17 laptop.
Also, question on Optane memory. Could I just buy a 32GB Optane memory module, and stick it in the spare NVMe slot next to the main drive, and will I still retain all the speed the main NVMe has, or will it go down in read/write speeds?
