    Hi OVGBI,
Some of the windows updates does effect the sound on a laptop. This mainly happens because either
Windows has disabled your audio device  or
Your system does not have the latest device drivers.
Please try the following steps to fix your issue.
    1) Press Windows logo key + X key .
    2) In the box that appears Click on Device manager from the left panel.
    3)
    Click on system devices
    4)Right click on (Intel(r)Smart Sound Technology(Intel R SST/audio controler) and click properties.

    5)
Then click on Driver tab,  If the driver version is 9.21.0.3755, you have the driver that was sent to you incorrectly.

6)Click Uninstall Device. You will get a popup asking if you want to remove the driver too, as shown.

    7) Make sure to UN-CHECK the check box that says Delete the driver software as we DO NOT WANT TO DELETE any driver.

Once its uninstalled restart your computer to check. This should fix your issue.

Please let me know if this helped.

Install the Realtek driver from Acer's driver download page on their website.

I am getting this on a newer SP513-53N laptop and even after uninstalling and deleting drivers, it puts it back in after restart (intel smart sound....). It doesn't give me an opportunity to replace the drivers.
