has anyone used one of these, I'd like to know if there are any shortfalls or problems before buying one.

This best budget Chromebook uses a newer Intel Celeron N3350 CPU, dual-core 1.1GHz with 11.6-inch, matte screen has wide viewing angles and no noticeable glare. The 1,366 x 768 resolution display is ideal for working in both indoor and outdoor settings, all while making web pages and streaming video look nice and crisp.
This includes include a single USB 3.0 port, one USB 2.0 port, an SD card reader, and an HDMI. While the battery is rated for about 9 hours, you can get 10 hours with the video at 50 percent brightness.
The Chromebook has Google Play support. The flippy 360-degree hinge and touchscreen finally make sense too.
The Acer Chromebook 11 is as good as Chromebooks get. Indeed, it's good enough to consider it over an Android 2-in-1 or even low-end Windows laptop. The Acer Chromebook 11 is as good as Chromebooks get.
