Can anyone tell me why Acer would switch out my hard drive for an issue with the screen?

Within 2 months of having this computer about a third of the screen was completely white so I sent it out to be repaired & I got it back today. The repair form says they only switched out the screen, nothing else but when I sent it out it had Windows 10 (factory) & I got it back with Windows 7. I need this computer for school so I really didn't want to send it out again so I took it to a repair store to have them check it out and they said that the hard drive that's in the computer isn't even the hard drive that is supposed to be in this particular computer. Then I realized that the repair place isn't even through Acer but an authorized Acer repair place so I'm not sure what I can even do about it. It was a brand new computer (almost) & I paid more money to get that particular hard drive to begin with. Anyway, does anyone know what I can do about this? I don't know how I would be able to prove that it was definitely them & not me.

    Hi @Trent09

Use the following steps to remove and replace the hard drive on your notebook.

    1. Remove your battery.
    2. Remove the hard drive access panel.
    3. Locate the hard drive and remove any screws holding it in place.
    4. Slide the hard drive away from the connectors.
    5. Lift the hard drive out of the bay.
    6. Remove the bracket from the hard drive. There are 4 screws that need to be removed.
    7. Remove the old hard drive, then slide the replacement hard drive into the bracket and replace the 4 screws.
    8. Insert the replacement hard drive and slide it back into place. The connectors should slide into place easily. Do not force the drive.
    9. Replace any screws that were holding the hard drive in place.
    10. Snap the back panel into place, then replace the screws and reinsert the battery.
NOTE:Some Acer notebooks have access panels that allow you to remove and replace the hard drive. If your notebook does not have an access panel, Acer does not recommend replacing your own hard drive.

If the device is still under warranty & the repair shop is authorized by Acer, do the following:
    1) locate the original purchase receipt (hard copy or online).
    2) flip the device over & locate the SNID.

    3) call Acer Customer Service for your area & get them to help you.

Your receipt will tell you when the device was purchased & give you a sense if it's still under warranty.  The SNID will show when you first registered the device.  Which hardware originally installed on the device will be known from the SNID & perhaps the receipt.  If one Acer customer service representative is not particularly helpful, ask to talk to another one.  If a bunch of them are unhelpful, ask to talk to the supervisor.  You should not get a run-around if the device is still under warranty.  Hopefully Acer will help you get back the device in pristine order.
