Hello, everyone. First I would like to thank you for taking the time to read my post and for any help you are able/willing to provide.

I purchased a used Acer Nitro 5 (i5 -8300H, Windows 10, 8GB DDR4, 1TB HDD, and the 1050 4GB) from Offer Up (the original purchase was from Best Buy) and the fellow I bought from did not reset the laptop, so I had to reset (and I chose the option to erase all files) before I went to work. Well after I finished working I discovered the reset had stalled at 41%; I turned off the laptop and turned it back on and I was greeted with a message stating the computer had been reset but we were unable to remove your personal files after which I was walked through the initial Windows 10 setup. I decided to just leave it like that and so I began installing the Windows 10 updates; but the laptop feels a little sluggish and I couldn't help feeling uncomfortable without the complete reset and so I tried to reset again and it has been over 6 hours that the reset is stalled on 42%. So I'm wondering if I should try to do a clean install of Windows 10 or if that would cause me to lose important drivers and acer software I need for the laptop to run smoothly?

    Hi EvertStanley,
    1. Turn off the laptop.
    2. Turn off your WiFi, or take the laptop to an area where there isn't any WiFi. (If connected via Ethernet, unplug it.)
    3. Turn on the laptop.
    4. Once it fully loads, then turn on your WiFi again.

It should work now. Sometimes (especially in 10) updates, including those that come after a reset, can get the computer stuck. It happens when an update fails, for whatever reason, and the device continually tries to get it to install over and over. Leaving you 'stuck'. Until you take away its ability to continue trying the update, hence the no WiFi, then it should load.
Let me know if this fixes the issue

If you don't want to keep personal files, why not just do a clean install of Windows? But first link Windows to your MS account.
If you don't have CD of drivers, check if there is a folder called 'Drivers' in C:, store it in USB to install after Windows installation. You can always download drivers from Acer website for your laptop.
